Food is Medicine

As an immunologist, I firmly believe in the power of food to maintain optimal health and treat diseases. There are many misconceptions about food and diets. This site will provide you with scientific information and the tools to make the right cuisine for your lifestyle. I do not like the word diet. Nobody likes to be on a diet. The other problem is that if you are ON a diet, at some point you will have to get OFF this diet. Of course, diets have their place in medical conditions requiring specific dietary restrictions. For everybody else, I prefer the word cuisine. A cuisine is a style of cooking characterized by distinctive ingredients, techniques and dishes. You should choose your cuisine so you will enjoy your food. You will be eating 2-3 times a day for the rest of your life. You better enjoy your meals! If you love your food it will love you back. It has been said that you are what you eat. Food can keep you healthy and strong. It can also make you sick, in some cases very sick. Today we have endless food choices. These choice are heavily influenced by advdertising by big food, social media and unfortunately frequently faulty science which has led to  fad diets that are far from healthy.
